"As I've given you a view of my ""outside"" I believes it's essential that I share my testimony. After all we both share in the goal of becoming more Christ-like."

My Testimony: From Chaos to Becoming

The First 30 Years - Chaos and Searching
I would describe the first 30 years of my life as chaos without accountability and without salvation. I was raised by a single mother who had been divorced twice and struggled with alcoholism. As the oldest of three, I felt the weight of responsibility early on and longed for a way out. When high school came I knew I wanted to leave the area. College seemed like the path to freedom. I did what most college students did - focused on performance, success and social life. After graduation I entered a career that turned into an industry-long pursuit of achievement. My twenties became a cycle of grinding, performing and receiving the rewards of that grind. But by the end of that decade, I began to feel restless and empty. Was this all there was to life? Each morning I'd see group of men walk by my house with surfboards while I left for work in my double-breasted suit and tie. One day they invited me to coffee. I noticed a peace and presence in them that drew me in. When they invited me to a Bible study, I went - and what I found there changed my life. The joy, unity and fellowship I witnessed told me this is where I belonged. Through that community I met my wife-to-be. We both accepted Jesus and were married when I was 30.

The Next 30 Years - Accountability and Refining
The next three decades were marked by accountability, continued chaos and growth. My wife and I were blessed with three children, church involvement and community involvement. I was leading, volunteering and raising my kids in a Christian environment. Yet, although I was doing much work for God, I wasn't fully becoming who He called me to be. Life brought both blessing and heartbreak. My wife battled addiction and after several rehabs, and affair and a child from that affair, our marriage couldn't survive. The divorce was incredibly painful. Still, even through those years of personal loss and heartache, I can now see how God never left my side. He was shaping me through the fire, teaching me about perseverance, grace and the depths of His love.

The Present - Becoming and Belonging
Today I am focused on becoming. It's one thing to know Scripture or to pray; it's another to become love itself, as Christ is love. My calling now is to live out His life through mine - to let His peace, joy and compassion flow into others. I've learned that life is hard, especially without our Heavenly Father. But we were created for His joy, His love and His purpose. He didn't die not the cross simply to help us survive life, but to live His life through us. Surrender isn't weakness - it's trust. It's asking "Where do I turn first when challenges come?" It's finding peace not in independence, but in full dependence on Him. God continues to shape me into the man, father, friend and disciple He designed me to be. Through every valley and mountain, I now see that His mercy is new every morning. Each day is another invitation to love Him more deeply and to live more fully for Him. Christ paid the price not so we could just get through life - but that we might live abundantly, joyfully and powerfully in Him.

Seek Jesus in ALL things! Remember you are Accepted, Secure, Significant and Loved in Christ!
